Showtime—it’s a distinctly different type of time—increments of sound and often fury signifying something: the artistry of theatre—where dream spreads offstage, its moments displacing all others, convincing an audience that whatever can be imagined is true. You have only to believe. But, before every showtime, people must show up. In Millville, New Jersey, the person who makes that happen is Walter Webster, who in 1997 started the Off Broad Street Players. What began in the basement of a church is now, more than two-hundred productions later, a mainstay of the Levoy Theater.
This documentary beautifully captures their story and that of their founder and artistic director, Walter Webster.
